Day 11 of travels - July 6, 2008, 5:48 am
It’s been an eventful couple of days. We left Stratford yesterday to Dover when we went to fill up our cars. I was almost done filling my tank when I noticed I filled it with Diesel. I asked the guy at the counter and he said it needed to be pumped and he wouldn’t even start it. In my defense the unleaded handle was green and in the states the diesel is always green.
We called the tow truck company and they said a tow truck would be on its way. We waited about an hour for the tow truck, but the question was what to do with it then. Because of the car’s warranty it had to be taken to a Nissan dealer, but all the ones near us were closed. The soonest the car could be worked on was on Monday. So we towed the car to the dealer, piled all the suitcases in one car, and Chris, Kayla, and I took the train to Dover. It’s turning into an expensive mistake.
So yesterday was lost. Today people just didn’t want to go anywhere (especially the planned two hour drive to Brighton) so we are just hanging around the house. I was planning on meeting up with Steph (from the Venezuelan DTS) there but with only one car it just doesn’t work. I did get to see her for a couple of hours earlier in the week so it could have been worse. You never know, there’s still another week here.
I’ve got more photos on flickr and actually something else for you guys.
